When I began researching antique Europeon medals, I learned that most of them are a physical representation of remarkable stories of service, courage, personal sacrifice, and beliefs. My love for these unique pieces of history led me to use them in the design of jewelry. While separated from their original owner, their representations continue when shared with others. I've also included nonhistorical stones and pendants far too beautiful or interesting to overlook.
The name, Marie Reine, is in memory of my grandmother and her two sisters. Originally from Canada, they were lovely and lively French Canadian women living in Mobile, Alabama. In keeping with their French, Catholic heritage, all three had beautiful and very long names sharing the same first name, “Marie”.
Marie Cecile Germaine Reine Beland
Marie Antoinette Adelaide Albertine Beland
Marie Pauline Lumina Albertine Beland (the youngest and my grandmother)
Reine, meaning queen, belonged to the oldest sister. However, I believe they were each in their own unique way, the three Reine's of Mobile.
The jewelry is organized into three collections; beautiful, beloved, and blessed.
beautiful - pave diamond pendants, pearls, and gemstone necklaces.
beloved - antique and vintage medals signifying important events in history or a person's life.
blessed - all things of religious and spiritual significance.
